Tom is  an Australian artist living in Ballarat, regional Victoria, known for his bright and vibrant art. Normal is boring. No better sentiment describes Tomas Lineker’s weird and wonderful world of painting.

For him, the more out of place his imagery, the more at home he feels.  Roused from childhood whimsy, spontaneity and wit, Lineker’s eccentric colours and characters harbour a timeless humour and sophistication. We could expand to say that the artist brings life to his canvas belying the actual fact he is compulsively documenting his racing, fluorescent thoughts and mind activity to the eyes of the viewer.

Using figuration as a vehicle   to drive various quirky scenes, imagined interiors and characters, his style is an unusual combination of still life and abstract depicting the subject matter in a energetic and confident setting. The canvas is merely the final place where these direct lines of uncommon colour, narrative and intent intersect and lie.

Following Australian modernist painter, Peter Grahams’ iconic colour blocking techniques, Lineker wields his paintbrush to explore the distortion which takes place between the empiric world and our internal imagining.
